At approximately 4:20 PM Nov 1, Sterling officers assisted the Logan County Sheriff’s Office with an arrest at Walmart. The individual was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. LCSO’s K9 unit also assisted at the scene and located suspected illegal narcotics.
Sterling PD officers successfully recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen a few weeks ago — great to see it returned to its rightful owner. Excellent work by the team in bringing this case to a close!Â
Earlier this week, Sterling Police officers arrested an individual at the Everyday Convenience Store on a felony warrant. During the arrest, a search of the suspect’s vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 10 blue “M30” pills — commonly known as fentanyl.

On October 26, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., #SterlingPDCO officers and Sterling Fire responded to the Buffalo Hills RV Park following a report of a male trapped inside a septic hole.
Sterling Fire personnel successfully rescued the individual, who was transported to SRMC for further medical evaluation and care.
This incident is a strong reminder of the serious hazards posed by confined spaces and septic systems — these environments can become life-threatening within moments. Always exercise caution and use proper safety equipment when working in or around them.

UPDATE: Sterling Special Enforcement Team (SET)
The #SterlingPDCO Special Enforcement Team executed the fifth search warrant related to the ongoing storage unit burglary investigation — this time at an apartment in the 1500 block of Fillmore Street.
Additional evidence was recovered as the investigation continues.

On October 28, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Sterling Police Officers attempted to stop a vehicle with expired registration. The driver failed to yield for several blocks before finally stopping at a residence in the 500 block of Jackson Street.
The driver disregarded multiple lawful commands and attempted to approach the residence but was quickly detained by officers. The individual was later transported to jail on charges of Obstruction and various traffic violations.
Remember: Compliance during traffic stops ensures safety for both drivers and officers — cooperation goes a long way.
On October 28, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Sterling Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Jeep Patriot in the 300 block of West Main Street due to expired registration.
During the stop, officers observed several large bladed weapons near a passenger who showed signs of potential flight. For officer safety, the individual was detained, and a subsequent search revealed two concealed fixed-blade knives on their person.
The passenger was issued a summons for Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
On October 27, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Sterling Police Officers contacted the driver of a blue Ford Explorer after the vehicle followed a marked patrol car at an unsafe distance, nearly causing a collision on Highway 14.
The driver stopped in the middle of the roadway, became argumentative, and refused multiple lawful commands to provide documentation or exit the vehicle. The individual continued to resist and was ultimately taken into custody for Obstruction, Resisting, and multiple traffic-related offenses.
#SterlingPDCo officers responded to the 400 block of Elm St. yesterday afternoon after what appeared to be real military-grade hand grenades were found during a property clean-out.
Out of an abundance of caution, a professional bomb squad from Greeley has been called in to safely handle and remedy the situation.

#SterlingPDCO and the Logan County Sheriff's Office were searching for a recently stolen 2006 silver Chevrolet pickup with Colorado plate EQS-159.
The vehicle was last tracked near the north side of Prewitt Reservoir. Deputies were actively searching the area.
The vehicle was recovered, along with an arrest, in Fort Morgan.

The Sterling Special Enforcement Team (SET) executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of Hamilton Street in connection with recent storage unit burglaries. As a result of the operation, two suspects were taken into custody, and a third arrest is expected soon.
During the search, numerous stolen items were recovered from this location and two additional sites. These recovered items will be returned to their rightful owners, helping to enhance community safety.
The SET team is a vital part of the Sterling Police Department (#SterlingPDCO), providing specialized resources and teamwork to combat crime and make Sterling a safer place to live.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On 10/15/25 at approximately 9:57 PM, #SterlingPDCO officers were dispatched to a report of two males loitering near an ATM for about 30 minutes. Officers contacted the individuals, identified as Justin Gnadt and another male, who were attempting to withdraw money with a Chime card.
Justin initially provided a false name — but our officers quickly recognized him. He was found to have a Felony FTA warrant (Registered Sex Offender Violation) and was arrested without further incident.Â
#SterlingPDCO officers contacted Justin Villa-Gallegos on 10/06/25 at 10:25 PM in the 500 block of W. Main St. after observing him riding a bike with no headlight. A valid Arvada warrant was confirmed, and meth was located on his person. He was charged with VPO, possession, and the active warrant.Â
Families near Sterling told Denver7 Investigates their private water and sewer system is failing under a state cease‑and‑desist order, and their monthly rates could soon jump as high as $800.Â
